Some lovely views on a nice day

Nice little site. The views are quite variable. Some pitched have a great view, some are easlily blocked if a big Motorhome pitched next door. If you can get the ones down near the water it’s probably best chance of a good view. I didn’t use the showers, €1 for a 4.5 minute shower seemed cheeky given the price of a pitch, but it appears to be normal in Ireland to charge additional for a shower. But €1 for 4.5mins is the most expensive we have come across. Good shop on site, easy walk down the road to the cove. Great location on the ring of Kerry. I would definitely go back

Crest of the wave

We had a cracking stay at this campsite. We thankfully missed peak season, staying mid week just at schools started back. We had a perfect pitch with a stunning view. The facilities were spotless and the staff we spoke to were very friendly. Excellent spot for some relaxation.

Wonderful - Our Winner!

We enjoyed two nights at Wave Crest in our Camper, a beautifully appointed site with specific pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes. All have a stunning view of the rugged Ring of Kerry coastline. Toilet/Shower/Kitchen facilities are first class and spotlessly clean. On arrival John providrd us with a map, information and suggestions for things to do. The little shop is handy for your basics, and a little more, and the Pompeii Pizza Wagon (seasonal) at the gateway was great for dinner on one of our two nights. Within walking distance of Carrolls Cove (beautiful sandy) beach and food bar, and a longer but manageable walk to The Blind Piper in Caherdaniel. nWe stayed at a mixture of campsites and did some wild camping over the two weeks of our holiday, and travelled through Clare, Kerry and Cork. Wave Crest was our favourite and represented good value in a price comparison with the others.

Fantastic trip . Highly recommended

This site is one we visit year after year, Bríd & John have a fantastic site beautifully situated on the ring of Kerry, all of the staff are a credit to the site. The shower & toilet area is constantly cleaned & extremely well maintained. The shop is also fully packed with all you need & Pompeii Pizza also has a truck on site. All of the nearby beaches are stunning. We did not want to leave yet again after a wonderful stay. We have a tent & our pitch was just by the stony beach, ideal for a quick dip in the beautiful weather we had. We also had our bikes & there are many places nearby to explore. We will most definitely be back next year. You should be very proud of your site & staff.

Confirm WiFi access

Lovely location & site. We had no WiFi access for the 2days/nights we were there, which is not good enough. Please dont advertise a service where you cannot provide coverage on All parts of site. We were in a camper van next to the car park beside the road. The private provider did not respond to my calls or txt either. Especially disappointing for teenager who wanted to play games in the evening.nI recommend the site & location but make sure to confirm WiFi, unfortunately they appear to be at the mercy of an outside private provider!!

Okay site, facilities dated

Stayed one night in campervan. Ended up in small area at end of carpark next to main road with five other campervans. Okay but not great as there wasnt room for the kids to play from the other vans!! Being a bank holiday weekend they were obviously trying to fit everyone in. Toilet facilities in the nearest block look to be very dated. Tokens required for showers! A small shop near the entrance is well stocked and very handy.

Money Hungry.

I was delighted to hear today that the Derrynane hotel has cancelled all bookings fo 22 ! We booked Wavecrest in Feb 21 ,no contact from wavecrest nby June Called down to find out what was happening and we were informed that our booking had been lost we were given an alternative date in Aug. take it or leave it ! We took it just to have a small holiday for us. No choice of pitch for the tent, take it or leave it again ,an exposed sloping pitch and we had to deal with a storm on the second night of the three night stay that we were given ! The greed of these people knows no limits !

Wavecrest is the best site I have ever stayed at

Me, my wife and 3 children (16, 12 & 9) had the best caravan holiday in Wavecrest. The scenery is amazing and the site itself is so well run. It’s kept absolutely spotless by the lovely staff throughout. There’s a shop on the site which supplies freshly baked bread and a great deli counter which also offers take away meals. The swimming areas on the site are really nice stoney beaches and good diving spots too, great for snorkelling. This year, there’s a Pompeii wood fired pizza set up at the entrance to the site. This is the best campsite we have ever stayed at.

Wonderful Motorhome / Caravan/Camping park

Whoever had the imagination to conceive of this park in this location should be complimented. Its a fantastic use of a beautiful location. Lovely views from everywhere, friendly and helpful staff, great services, decent shop on site and cafe, lots or brilliant walks and drives locally. Compares with our favourite campsites in France.

Superb site and location

Just back from a week in wavecrest. Fantastic site. Spotless ,scenic and so well laid out . Loads to do and see in the area. No shortage of beaches within 2 or 3 miles either direction. Lots of exploring and walking close by. Visited Sneem ,Waterville ,valentia Island and enjoyed a day in west cork. Hope to get back next year.

Spectacular views

We got the islands sites. 18,19,20. Right on the sea. Could be bad in wind. Feels like no one else is around. Good facilities but we didn’t need them. (Campervan). Easy cycle from here but main road is not the best.

Brilliant

We go to a lot of campsites around the country but this by far is the best. A bit of a journey from Dublin but so worth it. The views from the site are spectacular, the site is spotless, the toilets/showers are immaculate & to top it all off there is a shop on site. Do yourself a favor and just book

Fabulous campsite

A fantastic campsite. Ive been coming here since I was a child and love it. Stunning location, showers, toilets and wash up areas are spotless and the shop has everything. The cafe, which didnt open this year due to covid, is also very good, particularly for breakfast on a wet morning. Its the highlight of my boys Summer every year even though theyre teenagers now!

Fantastic campsite

While we were lucky with the weather I have to say from the moment we arrived everything was so professional and yet friendly. Pitches are superb with some of the best views in Ireland. Showers and toilets spotless and not too many people on site despite the fact they were very busy. Plenty to see and do. So good we are returning in 4 weeks and can’t wait.

Great spot to stay

this is the best campsite in the area.nViews are stunning from every spot in the site. Facilities are spotless. Shop has everything you need.nPros: location, very clean facilities, covid rulesnCons: no water temperature valve at the showers, games room has only ping pong table with no net and is too small to play comfortably, wash room can be busy, no common room

Reliving childhood memories

Returned to this campsite after nearly 20years was not dissapointed. The setting was amazing, the facilities were spotless. I would highly recommend this site for camping. Will definitely be returning. Excellent for families as well. Even with Covid around it was still a fabulous experience cant wait got our next trip.

Fantastic spot

In my opinion this is one of the top campsites in Ireland. They’ve really taken Covid seriously but have opened everything and made it feel really safe. Fabulous job! Great views, wonderful pitches and possibly the best camp shop I’ve seen anywhere. There is nothing this shop doesn’t have...hot food, fresh bread, salad bar.....we even got black olives! The toilet block and showers are spotless. Only minor drawback is the kids playground doesn’t have much but with fabulous beaches nearby and a nice kids play park 1.5km away in Caherdaniel it really is not an issue.

Incredible location, not ideal for backpackers.

My friends and I stayed here as part of our 9-day hike on the Kerry Way. The campsite is located approx. two kilometres outside of Caherdaniel directly by the sea. The view is simply stunning, but in all honesty that is not uncommon on this peninsula. It has its own small supermarket and a cafe/restaurant serving great food. The bathroom is clean and modern and there is a small kitchen with sinks and a microwave. nThe only problem from a backpackers perspective is the fact that there is no common room of any kind to retreat to when it rains heavily. I know this isnt a problem for people travelling in caravans or with large tents but for us it was quite annoying.nBut altogether this is a good campsite and I can recommend a visit.

Overpriced and overrated

Yes, the view is lovely though we arrived late and had to make do with a spot without the view. That -off course- is only logical and not a point of critisism. nThere are other campsites across the land though that are offering stunning views to a more decent price. EUR 29,00 for a motorhome (EHP included but shower has to be paid extra for) is rather pricy. nIt was also noisy on the site until quite late (midnight).nSo: nice view (but you get splendid views for free on the road aplenty), supermarket on site is handy but campsite otherwise overrated.

Camping with sea views

We stayed here overnight this week on a tour of the Ring if Kerry. Like many campsites in Ireland you can’t book, so ringing ahead to check availability has proved useful. Arrived late afternoon and managed to get a pitch overlooking the sea with electricity. A very popular site for families. Shop and cafe on site at the top of the hill near entrance. Small play area near the toilet block. Short walk to a pebble beach next to the site, but slightly longer around 15mins to a fantastic sandy beach and beach bar. Only thing to be aware of is lack of pavement while getting there, so if accompanied by little ones, a vehicle may be preferable. Facilities clean for the amount of people there. Tokens required for shower which were €1 for five minutes. Ample for most but may require more for small children as cubicles are quite small. Only point for consideration from our viewpoint would be that there was only one toilet block, so during our stay we had to wait a short time for showers and there was a queue to wash dishes. Ideally for the number of pitches it would have been fantastic to see another block available. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Just wow!!!

Our second only stay in our camper and we thought the campsite the night before was lovely but this was outstanding. In an area of already natural beauty, this site sits on a craggy hillside with quirky nooks and crannies all over in which to park a camper, caravan or pitch a tent. Lovely helpful lady at reception, spotlessly clean amenities, a very helpful man onsite (and this was late on sunday evening) who sourced a fuse for us when one of ours blew. A wonderful safe place for children and dogs welcome. Lovely stony little cove for swimming. We didnt eat in the restaurant/cafe but it looked really nice. Handy little shop which again was open after 9.30pm on a sunday evening. Small walk to derrynane hotel which was well worth a visit for food. Cant recommend this place enough. Id say practically every pitch there has some kind of sea view. Would be a great base for derrynane, valentia etc. Will definitely be back.

Nice area, but cramped and expensive

Dont think I will be running back, area is nice, but pitch area was really cramped, could hardly walk around the tent (paid for large pitch--but seems to be given a pitch suitable for small tent), on awkward site,The other options were no better. Also quite expensive 38 euro for 2 adults and 1 child. (charging extra for car & internet is also not free!!) The recycling and waste bins are not marked, lots of people confused which is which a simple label would help, lots of contaminates in the recycling. The games room was a dirty old prefab, but some really old looking games, needs new building, could not wait to get out of it. The kitchen, is basically just a sink for washing up but is also new and clean. The toilets and showers were really clean and look brand new. Parking was a disaster, no where to turn your car (turning point- had to reverse out around a dangerous bend) someone even managed to crash into our car, after paying for parking. I can see most tourists would be over the moon with the views alone. Cafe and shop are very good, with friendly staff.n
